Our
venture intends to offer guests an authentic rural experience so you won't
find boardwalks and signs on every other tree around here. We
want to share with you a taste of our lifestyle and surroundings and
invite you to participate in activities which allow you to get a real
sense of what Outback life is all about.
As a working property time is money so the services of a guide
for bush walks, and property tours do come at an
additional cost. Activity schedules can be tailored to your requirements
prior to or upon arrival to provide a personalised outback adventure.
Guided
Bush Walks:
$50
per person ($25
per child under 12yrs) Min 3
people required. Max 6 per group.
Our bush walks are not your standard beaten
tracks - they're a little
more, lets say, unexplored! Don't let me scare you off though - we offer fully guided
walks with our experienced guide.
Enjoy a half day walk into the untouched Expedition
Range. Fully guided to offer an informative experience with the opportunity to
step back in time and view ancient Aboriginal paintings! Walking over this terrain can be strenuous but
this walk is manageable for all those with a reasonable level of
fitness. I'm a strong
believer in 'whether you think you can or think you can't - you're
probably right!'
Appropriate clothing
and gear is required (boots, hats, water bottle, sunscreen etc).
Mountain
Climb:
$50
per person ($25
per child under 12yrs) Min 3
people required. Max 6 per group.
Our more challenging adventure takes you to the top of
our most prominent mountain and involves a rugged climb to reach the
summit. This walk/climb does
require a good level of fitness and stamina but your efforts will
definitely be rewarded by spectacular views and a real feeling of being 'on top of the world'. There are
no defined tracks but the walk is guided for safety and to enhance your experience, leading you to the
best lookout points.
Appropriate clothing
and gear is required (boots, hats, water bottle, sunscreen etc).
Unguided
Walks:
Guests are more than welcome to take a walk from the Homestead or Cottage
to explore the surroundings. Although the terrain is a little
rough, walks in this area are of an easy grade and suitable for all.
A walk to our wetlands is definitely recommended.
4WD
Property Tours:
$80
per group. Min
1 person. Max 6 per group.
Perhaps
you'd prefer to save your legs and let the trusty 4x4 do the work.
Hop aboard for a guided property tour. This tour offers a great
opportunity to explore the dramatic landscape and learn about our farming methods for sustainable
agriculture. Property tours take a lazy morning.
Swimming
and Fishing:
On our
property we have a river (depending on when it last rained) and
various dams that can be used for a range of water-based activities.
Take a refreshing dip or try your hand at fishing. Throw in a fishing line
and make a catch for a campfire dinner. Fishing is the sport of kings and we have all the gear
available for
you to use as you like! Our fish varieties include Silver Perch, Yellow
Belly and Barramundi (seeded 2006)! Oh, and don't miss
out on yabbies
(fresh water crayfish) we have plenty of nets and they go very well as
entrees (yum)!
Camping:
Around
our property we have some perfect areas for an overnight camp-out to give
you the opportunity for a nocturnal bush adventure. Bring a swag or
sleeping bag and sleep beneath the most
spectacular star-filled skies. Spend the night with nature by your side
or, if you'd prefer , we have 2 tents available
that can sleep a total of 5 people.
Camp
fire cooking:
The Homestead has a large outdoor fire place with a coal fired Barbeque
for you to use at your leisure. Feel free to use the hot pots (camp
ovens) and BBQ to cook up a storm or book a bush dinner to be cooked for
you so you can concentrate on the more important things like which
beverage will best complement the meal!
Bush dinner: $20
per person ($10
per child under 12 yrs)
Bird
watching:
The
Arcadia Valley offers a beautiful setting for bird watching. An
abundance of bird life resides in the area. A recent survey of our
property revealed almost 140 species of birds spotted over a period of
just 5 days. With our existing records that brought the count up to over
200 species so the birds seem to think it's a pretty good place to hang
out! Make sure you bring your binoculars and make use of our bird
hides.
